~~!! The Attacks of 26/11 song to be released at Leopold cafe !!~~

Leopold Cafe was one of key targets of the cowardly terror attack on Mumbai city on November 26, 2008. Now 5 years and 2 months down the line, Ram Gopal Varma who has just finished wrapping up his film The Attacks on 26/11 is all set to revisit the Cafe where the memory of the blood on the tables is still fresh.

Though Ramu had trouble getting permission to shoot at several authentic locations where the terror attacks actually happened, the owner Ferzad Jehani of the Leopold Cafe has been supremely supportive of Ramu’s cinematic endeavour to recreate the events leading up to ghastly attacks. The film has been shot in the Cafe with the active support of the owner and his staff.

And now the director is all set to release the first song from The Attacks Of 26/11 at the Leopold Cafe on February 6, at exactly the time when the terror attacks began on the cafe and Mumbai city.Says Ramu, “There’s only one song in The Attacks of 26/11, a background song sung by Sukhwinder Singh composed by Rushin. We are launching this song video on Feb 6 at Leopold Cafe where the attacks first started and precisely at the same time as when the attack happened at 9.30.”Ramu feels the Cafe epitomizes the resilient spirit of the city. “I was overwhelmed with the spirit of Farzad the owner of Leopold cafe who reopened his place just 3 days after the incident and the spirit of Mumbai people was such that it was packed.

A customer who ran away at the time of the attacks came and told Farzad ‘I came back to finish my beer’. So in spite of the tragedy that happened there I felt releasing my song to be a fitting tribute to the incident. Also the song marks the celebratory spirit thereby signifying that we won’t be cowed down.”Apart from the management team of Leopold Cafe for the song release, Ramu has also invited some of the customers who survived that night. Says Ferzad Jehani of Leopold Cafe, “The initial pre-shoot visit of the film unit was traumatic. But now I look forward to the song release in my cafe and even more the movie’s release.”
